Global Youth Networks Quarterly Update - 2025 Q3

Throughout Q3, the SDSN Youth Networks continued to take action and to empower and mobilize youth in their respective countries and regions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From facilitating the engagement of youth at large-scale forums, study tours, and community initiatives, to participating in climate governance and global ocean dialogues, and developing youth-driven solutions. Africa

Nigeria SDG Changemakers Forum 2025

In August, SDSN Youth Nigeria hosted the SDG Changemakers Forum 2025, bringing together hundreds of young leaders and policymakers from across Africa. Through inspiring talks and cross- border exchanges, the event celebrated the power of youth collaboration in shaping a sustainable future.

SDG Changemakers Study Tour in Nigeria

In July, SDSN Youth Nigeria led a week- long SDG Changemakers Study Tour in Abuja, giving youth firsthand exposure to national institutions driving sustainable development. Participants visited UN offices, government agencies, and innovation hubs, deepening their understanding of how policy connects to practice.

Empowering Youth in Agri-Food Systems in Kenya

In September, SDSN Youth Kenya co-hosted the Kilimo Festival and Conference at Murang’a University, gathering 300 participants from academia, industry, and government. The event spotlighted innovation, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for young people in sustainable agriculture.

Youth Debates and Tree Planting in Ghana

In August, SDSN Youth Ghana and partners organized an SDGs Awareness Conference at the University of Education, Winneba. The event brought together more than 300 young people for debates, a tree-planting activity, and discussions on localizing the SDGs, inspiring youth to take tangible action for a sustainable future.

Asia-Pacific

UAE SDGs Youth Forum by SDSN Youth Korea

In September, SDSN Youth Korea and the Emirates Youth Council held a youth forum at the UAE Embassy in Seoul. Young delegates from both countries exchanged insights on sustainable cities and clean water, fostering cross-cultural collaboration on shared SDG priorities.

Youth Shaping Policy: Insights from Hong Kong

In September, SDSN Youth Hong Kong's Network Coordinator, Toby Lau joined an online panel on youth participation in policymaking. Drawing on real-world experience, the session underscored the value of inclusive, long-term thinking in shaping effective public policies.

Championing Ocean Resilience from Indonesia to New York

In August, the Network Coordinator of SDSN Youth Indonesia represented the network at the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Preparatory Commission II in New York. She emphasized youth-led efforts to protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable ocean governance.

Introducing SDSN Youth Philippines

In September, SDSN Youth Philippines joined De La Salle University’s Annual Recruitment Week, setting up a booth to introduce the network and recruit its first student volunteers. The activity marked a milestone in building local engagement with the SDGs on campus.

Americas

Empowering Youth Voices in Bolivia

In September, SDSN Youth Bolivia published a blog on the LCOY Bolivia 2024 process, led by member organization Graha. The piece shared how a new participatory approach is helping amplify youth voices in climate action across the Global South.

Europe

Showcasing Innovation for a Sustainable Black Sea

In September, the SDSN Youth Black Sea Network launched its Solutions for a Sustainable Black Sea Report, highlighting 12 innovative ideas across blue economy, technology, urban sustainability, and agriculture. The publication showcased regional creativity and collaboration toward a more resilient future.

Exploring the Social Dimensions of Sustainability in Greece

In September, SDSN Youth Greece hosted a three-day online webinar series on the social aspects of sustainable development. Experts and young participants examined inequality, inclusion, and wellbeing, deepening understanding of how social change drives sustainability.
